A Place In Heaven

Please don't sing sad songs for me,

Restrain your grief and fears,

For I am in a perfect place

Away from pain and tears...

It's far away from hunger

And hurt and want and pride,

I have a place in Heaven

With the Master at my side.

My life on earth was very good,

As earthly life can go,

But Paradise is so much more

Than anyone can know...

My heart is filled with happiness

And sweet rejoicing, too.

To walk with God is perfect peace,

A joy forever new.

The Unique and Inspiring Mother Lawrence

Julia O'Malley once wrote a story in her column on The Anchorage Daily News about Mother Lawrence, a woman well known in Anchorage, Alaska, for giving to the needy - for free. You can view the story here: http://community.adn.com/node/146584. Mother Lawrence told Julia the most honest and hilarious thing I've ever heard - "With each of my children my breasts got smaller, and my feet got bigger. I said, 'God, you have a sense of humor.' "
Mother Lawrence and her husband Jacob have given to others almost their whole entire life. This is a type of kindness that is uncommon in this day and age. I admire what she has done over the years, and what she continues to do. Even when I was in grade school, I remember people talking about the food boxes and clothes you can get from her. She gives away boxes of food, clothing, winter gear and what ever else is in her reach. All of this and she doesn't require an income limit, application, or interview process. It's all free.
When our money situation gets better, I plan on sending money to help her cause. If you are in the Anchorage area and have items that you want to get rid of: clothes, winter gear, baby items, or anything; I urge you to please donate them to Mother Lawrence, to help those in need.

The Dick Head

This year I decided that I wanted to improve my swimming techniques so now I am taking a swimming class. I've never taken any sort of lessons, never had to use any swimming equipment, and never really had to do laps before. I knew this was going to be one heck of an experience. I went to the store and got my little cute goggles, found a couple of swimming suites, and found a nice little swimming cap that all my hair can fit into.
Now, I am in the last month of the semester and I feel great; I even lost four (4) pounds. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I go in and do the same routine: I get my swimsuit on in the locker room, get a quick mandatory shower and then I head to the pool. Once I get to the pool I have to force myself into jumping in the cold water, but first I must put on my Speedo Solid Latex Swimming Cap, what I have newly named, "The Condom!"
The condom is so difficult to get on. First I tie my long wet hair into a bun, then I use both hands on each side of the condom, fingers pointing up, and stretch it as far as I can so it can get onto my head. Then I have to pull each side down to cover my hair. By this time my forehead and ears are squished together tightly and I'm ready to get into the pool to start the daily laps. Now I know what a big dick head feels like!
That is how the condom looks.

Fire & Ice

When two worlds collide, intertwine, and become one (marriage) -
the outcome is unbelievably beautiful (family).

I am an Inupiaq Alaskan Native, a.k.a. an Eskimo. I am from a small village in the Northwestern part of Alaska, called Selawik; three miles North of the Arctic Circle.  My husband is a Samoan from the Polynesian island called Tutuila, a.k.a. American Samoa; a U.S. territory located in the Southern Hemisphere. To more simply put it, I come from the far North and he comes from the far South.
This blog will be utilized to release all the chaotic things in my mind, and organize them to better share with family and friends. Enjoy!

Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging!

Day 1
Aarigaa taikuulapaiq for visiting my blog! Welcome! Uvanga atiga Qatluuraq! I am a God fearing woman, wife and mother with Inupiaq pride from the NANA side!

"Inupiaq Alofa?" you ask? Inupiaq (Eskimo) Alofa (Love in Samoan) - translates into Inupiaq Love.

I have a uniquely cross-cultured family; I am an Inupiaq Eskimo from Selawik, Alaska, and my husband is a Samoan from Vailoa, American Samoa.

I have been debating the pro's and con's of blogging for quite some time now; "Blogging?! Blogging about what? Food? Cooking? Recipes? Family? Work? School? How about our five children? How about all of the above?"

Tonight, I finally stopped the debate and just did it. We'll see where it takes me. Either way, this will be a great way for our family and friends to stay up to date on our chaotic life (other than Facebook).

I occasionally browse blogs here and there but lose interest fairly quickly when I see too many grammatical errors. We'll see how I do with mine. :-)
